Dynamics of Mixed Clathrate?Ice Shells on Ocean Worlds
نویسندگان
چکیده
The habitability of oceans within icy worlds depends on material and heat transport through their outer ice shells. Previous work shows a methane clathrate layer at the upper surface shell Titan thickens convecting region, while Pluto base hinders convection. In this way, dynamics clathrate-ice shells may be essential to thermal evolution ocean worlds. However, studies date have not addressed that determine location clathrates shell. Here, we show that, in contrast previous studies, accumulating are entrained throughout Clathrates stiffer than ice. As result, entrainment slows convection conductive lid across range worlds, potentially preserving sub-ice but limiting avenues for into them.

Impact of Ocean-Land Mixed Propagation Path on Equivalent Circuit of Grounding Rods
In this paper, the effect of ocean-land mixed propagation path on the lightning performance of grounding rods is investigated. This effect is focused on two problems. The first is extracting exact equivalent circuit of grounding rods in the presence of oceans. The equivalent circuit can be used in transient analysis of power systems in the neighboring oceans. In the second one, this effect on t...

Ocean Worlds in the Outer Solar System
Many outer solar system bodies are thought to harbor liquid water oceans beneath their ice shells. This article first reviews how such oceans are detected. We then discuss how they are maintained, when they formed, and what the oceans’ likely characteristics are. We focus in particular on Europa, Ganymede, Callisto, Titan and Enceladus, bodies for which there is direct evidence of subsurface oc...
متن کاملOcean Mixed Layer
The ocean mixed layer (OML), the ocean region adjacent to the air–sea interface, is typically tens of meters deep, and due to the fact that it is well mixed, the temperature and salinity (and therefore the density) are fairly uniform. The rapidly changing regions below these uniform regions of temperature, salinity, and density are called the thermocline, halocline, and pycnocline, respectively...
